Why there is a pause after each phrase
The interpreter waits for the end of your sentence so the translation makes sense.
- 1
MyInterpreter translates sentence by sentence, not word by word. Translating half a sentence often gets the meaning wrong.
- 2
It knows a sentence has ended when you are silent for about 0.6–0.8 seconds.
- 3
Then your phone translates and the other phone speaks it. Expect about 1 to 1.5 seconds after each sentence.
- 4
To keep it flowing: speak in short, complete sentences; pause briefly at the end; let the interpreter finish before you answer.
- 5
Meanwhile the screen shows who is speaking, so silence does not mean the call dropped.
Good to know
Long sentences without pauses take longer to arrive. If the pause is much longer than usual, check your connection.Still stuck?
